Lake Eyre Basin Agreement

River Health in the Lake Eyre Basin — Formation of a Lake Eyre Basin Rivers Assessment Consortium

Expressions of interest were invited from interested research institutions, regional organisations, non-government organisations and industry players to form a Consortium, in partnership with the Australian, Queensland, South Australian and Northern Territory Governments, to carry out the design, collection, analysis and interpretation of river health data for the Lake Eyre Basin Rivers Assessment (LEBRA), initially for three years, as a core component of a ten-year LEBRA cycle (2009 to 2018).

Successful consortium members are expected to contribute to the costs of the project and will be required to identify the resources they can contribute. The Australian, NT, Qld and SA Governments have also made an in principle agreement to contribute to the project costs.
